Frequently Asked Questions
Training with LET'S GO!! will teach you and your dog a common language. You and your dog will learn this new language together. Additionally, you'll learn hand signals. You will learn to read your dog’s body language. Your dog is already proficient in reading your body language!! You’ll share accomplishments and increased confidence levels. You’ll enjoy each other, as it should be.
All training is accomplished by positive reinforcement. LET’S GO!!! uses treats, praise, affection, belly rubs and ear scratches to teach your dog what to do. It’s easier to teach a dog what to do - than teach a dog what not to do.
Dog training is FUN!!
Dogs are our constant companions giving us unquestioned love and loyalty regardless of our age or need. They love us for who we are - not for what we have. We have invited them into our world and our family. It’s our responsibility to give them the proper framework in which to live. It is our duty to teach our children to love and respect the puppy and/or the dog and for what it is - a Dog. They will establish a friendship that is treasured and remembered for a lifetime.
Positive reinforcement, the method of training used in our sessions, has been selected based on the effectiveness and the positive aspects of the training. Dogs who have been properly trained in obedience enjoy better relationships with their owners. When dogs feel safe and secure they understand the rules. The basis of a good trainer stems from knowledge, experience, effectiveness and attitude. A good trainer actively looks for new ideas and implements positive changes for the better. A good trainer will learn from experience, maintain an open mind, be kind, patient, friendly and involved. The main concern and focus at LET’S GO!! is to present training methods to the owner in order for their dogs to give them their very best, be responsive to their cues, respectful of their leadership and enjoy a loving bond with the owner.
It's NEVER Too Late to Train Your Dog!!
OUR MISSION STATEMENT at LET’S GO!! (Positive Reinforcement Dog Training) is to give you the very best we possibly can. We want you to realize what you’re subconsciously telling your dog by certain things you do and by what the dog is telling you by certain things he does.
LET’S GO!! is committed to not only giving you a dog that you will love as a family member, as well as a dog that loves and respects your guidance, and a dog that is safe in any environment and in any situation.
Dogs, like children, require direction, instruction, praise, love and guidance. The only difference is one species has two legs and the other has four legs.
ARE THESE THINGS HAPPENING IN YOUR HOME? DON’T WAIT TO REACH OUT.
For the most part these are normal puppy behaviors and should be addressed sooner rather than later. With a well laid foundation of expectations and boundaries you and your dog will begin to agree on what’s appropriate or what’s inappropriate behaviors.
“Loose leash walking” LLW- means a dog is walking by their owner’s side with no tension, essentially not pulling on the leash at all, indicating they are focused on their handler and not distracted by their surroundings. LLW is a trained behavior where the dog maintains a relaxed posture while walking alongside their owner without pulling on the leash.
Key points about loose lease walking:
No tension on the leash: The leash would hang in a “J" shape with no pulling force.
By your side: The dog should walk alongside you, not ahead or lagging behind.
Requires training: This is a learned behavior that needs to be actively taught through positive reinforcement techniques like treats or praise,
Important for public areas: A well-trained loose leash walker makes walks in public areas much more enjoyable and manageable for both the dog and owner.
Sounds easy enough. HUH?? Easy peasy!! Right?? OH NO!! Nothing about loose leash walking is easy.
In my opinion it’s the most difficult cue to train for you and your dog. But once learned and in action - it's beautiful. A real Team at work
Crate training isn’t “imprisoning” your dog. It gives them their own space and can calm anxiety.
Create positive associations with the crate through the use of treats and games.
Be patient - it’s worth the effort. Dog will use the crate while potty training, sleeping and when you’re not at home.
We all want a well-behaved dog that doesn’t tear up things and goes to the bathroom outside.
Dog crate training is an important part of that. A crate creates a safe environment for your dog and a safe place that belongs to them.
While many people view crates through the human lens of being “caged up.” Dogs are naturally den animals and most enjoy being in a small, enclosed place. A crate provides them with a feeling of security. When trained to a crate, at an early age, crates can help calm anxiety.
The phrase "Use it or Lose it" is true. Particularly, learning and practicing new cues/behaviors.
When learning a new skill practice is the most important thing we do. The "four P’s of dog training = PATIENCE, PRACTICE, PRAISE and PRAYER. When daily life gets in the way of the four "P"s of dog training are usually the first to be neglected. It’s true that practice makes perfect.

Dogs are not born potty trained. Dogs are not born knowing the difference between inside and outside. They are not born knowing what to do. They do not know “good”, “bad”, “right”, “wrong”, “positive”, “negative”, “appropriate” or “inappropriate”.
DOGS JUST ARE.
It’s up to us, their pet parents to teach them. Just like we teach our human children.

It makes a huge difference with your dog when they have good manners. Some dogs are okay with change and change quickly (change after one session), while others take more time and that’s okay. Some dogs have tougher stuff to get through. Adopted and rescued often bring more emotional baggage to the relationship. Obedience training will help you strengthen your owner/dog bond. Nothing bonds like owner/dog training.
The average dog will live 8 - 10 years. The average dog will have five homes during those 8 - 10 years,
Dog behavior, according to the Veterinary School of Behavior, is the number one killer or dogs.
The number one reason dogs are rehomed, taken to shelters, thrown out into the backyard to live alone and forgotten or abandoned on a lonely country road is: A lack of household manners.
Can you imagine thinking dogs are born with proper behavior manners? Nope, no more than children are born with appropriate behavior manners.
Is this making you think??
Dog obedience training teaches your dog to listen, (creates communication) and will give you cues like sit, down, stay, recall, wait and park it. It also reinforces your leadership role as you train your dog on a consistent basis. It gives you a shared language.
LET’S GO!! believes that training ensures a happy pack family at home. Through training you and your dog develop a language to communicate together and, in doing so, deepen the bond between the two of you. Your dog needs to know what you expect of him.
You need to know what he expects and needs from you. Effective communication skills is how you share this information. You are two different species. LET’S GO!!’s job is to get you on the same page.

In October 2009 Bobbye participated in HCPHES and trained 40+ Pit Bulls in a program that aims to change the culture of pit bull ownership. "Tricks for Pits" aims to change the culture of pit bull ownership in urban areas where misuse of the animals and dog-fighting are prevalent. Forty plus pit bulls and their teenage owners enrolled in the first two classes.
Thirty-six graduated the ten week course and four went on to obtain their American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Certification. Harris County Public Health Veterinary Division started the classes after seeing a significant increase in the number of pit bulls being abandoned, pit bull bites and police calls concerning vicious members of the breed. All of the pit bulls were vaccinated for free prior to the class. Only one of the 40+ pit bulls had ever been vaccinated.
During the ten weeks of class 85% of the pit bulls were spayed or neutered. Choke chains, prong collars and electric collars were NOT used for training. All training was done with no-slip collars and six foot regular leads.
Our slogan is: Train Don’t Chain - Off the Chain on the Leash
